I have an EAS fault on the dash, it has happened before but normally goes up to max height and then after parking, switching off and locking it returns to normal no faults.

This time it is a hard error, it just will not go. I reckon I can not hear the compressor running anymore, so I checked the fuses and all are ok. All the lights come on the EAS christmas decorations, flashing at first then solid.

The ride is bouncy, like what I imagine it would be like having a P38 with coil springs, horrible. So I am guessing there is some air in the air springs/bags, but as to how long that will last is anybodies guess..........

There was an annoying clunk when I went over bumps in the road, interestingly that has now stopped. :doh: I checked the reservoir is still there, to my relief it is. I think I would have really heard that fall off, let alone feel it.

Anyway, here is the question, does anybody in the Salisbury area have an EAS Kicker or the EAS cable I can use to plug into a laptop? I have the software, just never got around to a cable, :doh: again.

Thanks. I am sure the compressor is not running at all, so the EAS software will not fix it, but it will/may confirm it.

As I cannot hear it running, I doubt it is a seal problem. So maybe open it up and check the internal state or buy a new/refurb compressor. The only other thing is the relay, it looks ok, but need to put a meter on it to know.

Fingers crossed.

If you have all the lights (a hard fault) compressor won't run.
 
So back to grabbing the cable and getting an error code. The compressor could be fine.
I wonder if the clunking I heard underneath (only when going over some bumps, and has now stopped) was a ride height sensor........ It was not the exhaust I am very sure, no steering problems as most of that had attention last year.

Will check in the morning for any other obvious signs, but I could not see anything last time. Then order a cable.
 
Also I forgot to say I do not get the "SLOW: 35MPH MAX" message. But when the fault occurred i was driving and the compressor was running for about 15/20 mins until it failed about 5 mins before I got home.
So possibly the thermal trip? Again, eBay cable and wait and wait and then take the next step.
 
Sounds like it should clear using the eas software I have had a similar set of problems mainly caused by the fuse board under the bonnet being shot and a tired battery but clear the faults first.

Ok wish you had said that in your first post. If compressor was running constantly before it stopped. Maybe you have a failed diaphragm valve or a bad leak. Diaphragm valve seals the exhaust when compressor is running. Compressor maybe shot. So when you get a running compressor and clear the faults check for leaks and check that as compressor runs no air is coming from exhaust port.
 
Thanks guys I will check things over and report back soon. I have ordered a cable now.
Sorry for not revealing all in the first post, it is just that last night the sequence of events started coming back to me. It failed Friday last week and I was in a bit of a preoccupied state preparing for the weekend. :rolleyes:

OK, quick update.
Went by the videos on the http://www.rswsolutions.com/ site.
I checked the thermal sensor and there is continuity there, so looks ok.
Then I bypassed relay 20 via pins 3 and 5, the compressor sprang into life.
Started the engine let it run a few minutes but the EAS Fault message did not go, and the christmas tree lights were all still on. They start by flashing then go solid. The MAX 35 MPH message still does not come up, and it is on the bump stops.
Checked the pressure sensor, no continuity, so guess there is not enough pressure in the reservoir, so maybe the diaphragm/seals in the compressor piston, or I just did not run it long enough.
I have a cable due Monday/Tuesday, so fingers crossed I can get to the next stage then.

If the compressor ran and did not produce any pressure it is almost certainly either duff piston seal or split diaphragm valve. You need to clear faults then do the checks with compressor running.

I now have the SLOW: 35MPH MAX message.
The EAS lights no longer flash then go solid, all but the lowest (loading) light come on and stay on.
Plugging in the cable and putting ignition to II, boot up, read instructions, run EAS_unlock from my desktop I get:
Application Error, The Application Failed to Initialise Properly.

Running the file on my desktop PC I have no problems. But that is indoors.

Any ideas? Getting desperate now....

It should initialise then good idle light should come on solid green. You need net framework 2 at least on laptop.

You need to download Microsoft Netframework 2 or above from the microsoft download site, it's free. Details are in the RSW FAQ's section.:)
 
ok, dot net 2 framework installed, thanks for that, I obviously did not read all of the instructions. Sorry.

Anyway, here is what it came up with:
1: F8:2_Hidden
2: FR signal incorrect
6: RR signal incorrect
4: Air supply fault
7: Vehicle has moved

Not sure what the first is, but air supply fault? compressor not pumping enough?
So I clicked Unlock EAS, the car did stuff and moved slightly in each corner while making promising sounding noises.

I switched off as per instructions, went to start engine and it came up with SLOW: 35MPH MAX again. I guess this is due to no air in the system. No EAS faults though.
Started engine, the lights came on in a normal way implying it was going to raise to normal height. There was slight movement, not much, but I understand it can take 10 mins to re-pressurise the system enough.

Fear of extremely low fuel I am going to top it up with a spare tank very soon and let it idle for 10 mins or so and see what happens. Checking the software again no faults have re-occurred and I guess if the suspension is not at normal within 10 mins then the SLOW message will not go and the culprit is likely to be the compressor seal/diaphragm as you said. Fingers crossed.

Just to note, I used a propoer serial port set as Comm 1, not USB.
The socket in the footwell was slightly corroded, I sprayed it and cleaned.
Idle signals were all ok, and I had a green light with good idle and only FF returned in the RX box.

Right, it does not seem to raise itself after idling for 10 mins.
Going to take it for a 10 mins drive and see what happens.
No faults/errors have popped up again.

If your compressor is running and not making air, remove exhaust filter and put your finger over port. If any air is coming out your diaphragm has failed. If no air coming out odds on piston seal.
