Evening all,

Ever since I bought this car the suspension hasn't worked. Block was refurbed along with the pump, then I got a brand new pump from a friend of mine who had it sitting in the bottom of his locker for ages. Still no life out of it. I can get it pumping with the RSW software and lift the bags, did that yesterday and she still hasn't dropped but I'll be damned if I can get it to work off the switch on the dash. There are no lights coming on at all on it, I swapped out the ECU today and the switch and still nothing. Weird thing is that if I press the inhibit switch it will only light up if the headlights are switched on and the light will stay on until the headlights are switched off. I had a trawl through the archive of EAS discussions on here and found tell of the connector plugs in the footwell, I'll be checking those tomorrow when I'm back at the motor. But in the meantime is there anything else that could be causing the problem? (If it might mean something there is no power to the hevac unit either and that was changed too). 01 2.5d

D.

Have you removed the EAS bypass kit that was presumably fitted when taken off air?

Is the delay relay fitted?

If it can be triggered with diagnostics but not otherwise then the thermal switch might be fried.

I don't think it was ever taken off air. When I got it there were 4 schrader valves attached to the pipes for the bags and iirc the compressor was disconnected. All were pumped up and holding air. There is a relay fitted beside the eas ecu, tall/long one. The compressor is new/never used one from a Land Rover mechanic who had it sitting in his locker for ages. The thing that is stumping me is that inhibit switch only lighting up when pressed if the headlights are turned on and only going off when the headlights are switched off. Battery is good, starting car every time, even when left for a few days. The switch headlight thing is looking like a short somewhere but looking through RAVE I can't see where they might be connected.

The inhibit switch has two bulbs one for lighting one for active maybe the bulb has blown. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-STC1877 Face lighting should be green active bar should be orange.

If the switch lights up with headlights on, I'd be looking for bad earths. The ECU must be powered and the EAS relay in place or you would not be able to switch the pump on/off with diagnostics.

Lighting up with headlamps and lighting up when active uses two different bulbs Keith. If it is working when selected but not lighting orange the bulb has blown. Unless the activation circuit runs through the bulb to prevent unwarned use.

It's the orange bar that comes on. I'll try and put a small video on YouTube later to slow what I'm on about. Doing a search last night i found out about the two connectors in the passenger side and I'll have a look at them later.

He's talking about the orange bar not the illumination.

The green switch illumination should come on with lights. The orange bar should only be lit when the switch is in the engaged position. They are two totally separate power supplies, although they do share the same ground. It should not be possible for the interior lights to switch on the orange lamp. Have a look at diagram in RAVE you will see what i mean.

this is what i was talking about with the lights.

I had a look at the connectors and in probably going to have to do the soldering job on them.

Is it me or is that switch in the fog light position..... thats why it works with lights

On mine I am pretty sure the 2 right hand switches are the fogs. Then going left EAS inhibit, EAS rocker select, cruise control, (actually my front parking sensors) and then high/low ratio select. Hold on, missed the hazards out. Think they're far left ... er, maybe. Can you remind me what my name is?

Yes it should be from right to left. Front fogs (if fitted). Rear fogs. Inhibit switch, rocker switch. Looks like it's connected to the wrong plug. There will be a spare one as he has no front fogs.

Thanks guys. There is a spare plug in there, black one. I'll have a check to see if the switches are plugged in wrong. Would've thought that the plugs would only go into its own switch though.

That is the one you need to connect to inhibit switch. White one is for front spots.

You are looking for a black plug. Pin # 1 Black. Pin # 2 Red/White. Pin # 3 Yellow/Grey. Pin # 4 White. Pin # 5 Two Yellow/Grey wires. Pin # 6 Two black wires. That is the plug for the inhibit switch. The plug for the front spots is identical but coloured white with different wire connections.
