lol datatek, ive tried it on my mate xp laptop aswell, i went through all the comms today it was reading on 3 and4 but the idle kept flashing from green to red quickly, but i pressed the unlock button and read and cleared the faults anyway. this however didnt reset the eas and now i cant get it to read on any comms, please help data lol

So, it sounds like either your USB to serial adaptor is no good, a common problem, or you have a dodgy connection/corrosion on the OBD connector. My bet would be the USB to serial adaptor. Unless you had a stable "Good Idle" it won't actually have read or cleared the faults.

I use an old steam drive DELL with a serial port for EASunlock. Works every time without a glitch. However i have a ACER with only USB connector. Have never been able to get it to work. Although to be honest with the DELL working so well have never tried very hard. The USB connector and driver seem to be a problem for lots of people. XP seems to be the best system to use it on also.

is there a way i can test/fix the obd wammers or is it easier to just replace? just like to thank everybody for all your help and advise

If it won't clean, just get a good one from a breaker and splice the wires. Solder and heat shrink.

I got the lead off Datatek and run it on Windows 7 with Windows 7 designated usb adaptor. What I found was that you had to restart the EASunlock if you got the com port wrong. As soon I started it on com 4 all was well. (should have said selected com 4 from dropown)
