Hi i have just received a new dynamo but it states on it negative earth. My series is positive.i have searched everywhere but no web shows you if you have to reverse the polarity.only shows positive to negative.please if anyone now how to reverse it or will it be ok as it is thats what the supplier says.just want to check regards

Hello Brandysnaps,

If the supplier states it will be ok are they prepared to replace it if its not? mines positive earth and when the starter went on mine i replaced it with a negative earth jobbie and it works fine. this is something to do with the the windings in the motor being able to operate either way. Sounds like a dynamo will be similar.

hope you get it sorted mate.

WHATEVER you do you must polarise the dynamo before you start the engine other wise it will ruin the control box.....its bo bother just take a live wire from the negative side of the battery and flash it on field terminal a couple of times dont hold it on just flash it to get a spark twice that should do it hope this helps brandy best o luck ...dave ps the field terminal is the little un mate.dave
