Dumb iron rot.

Took the bumper off to give it a fresh coat of paint and some tlc yesterday, and whilst checking the dumb iron for any bad signs noticed that the nearside one has an elongated rotten patch on the side of it, I managed to push a decent sized hole into it with the handle end of the wire brush and pull a fair bit of rust and ****e.

Question is; for a hole this size ( approximately half inch by three inches ) is it worth patching or replace the dumb iron itself?

i'd patch it but i spose for what a dumb iron costs £29.00 its worth doing

£29 ? where from ?

had mine off ebay

cheapest I've found so far is 55 quid

Not really sure how tricky the job is, to replace that is.

yeah , its a bit of messin about but is a propper job when done, make sure yer make a few measurements before yer cut the old one off

That link says it's for a series 2/3 only though... Any good on a defender??!

dunno bout using them on a defender, ther a diferent shape, and i think the box section is bigger on a 90 etc??



thats off a defender 90 / 110, ther nearer £70

sorry fer the confusion in parts ! if yer can get them fer £50 thats better,

am sure yer could fabricate something tho, i would give it a go before buying anything ! nawt to loose

£55 on famous four site, no pic though.

£55 int bad as it would prob take me all morning to make something of the same and grind it up ,

Sod it gonna patch it.

was looking at mine earlier , er,...... might be patching too in the near future !

typical that, still, I do find that happens a lot whenever I go on here.
