Whilst i'm doing the work on the 90 I've thought about adding an extra battery with split charging. Ive found a Durite kit that has everything needed so it says.

Can i add a main isolating switch for use when working on the vehicle and the battery needs disconnecting? (thinking of mounting this on the outside of the battery compartment) Also an Anderson jump start kit to connect jump leads to? Would a 50Amp Anderson kit be man enough for jump starting?

If you are fitting an isolating switch, have a look at those used for split charging on boats, as they will give you the option of 'Off', 'Batt 1', 'Batt 2' or 'Both'

Get one with a high current rating ;)

Funny you should ask this, i have just installed a BEP voltage sensitive regulator to a boat. It only allows the second battery to be charged once the primary (starter) battery is at 13.8v (fully charged). It. Is completely automatic and essentialy only needs an input from the alternator to the primary battery positive, a cable from the battery positive to the VSR and a battery positive from the second positive to the VSR and a negative sense to a common negative for both batteries.
