Right i have a psi box on my 96 auto dse.
A good or a bad thing to have?
I will be taking it off on Thursday night as on friday got a 80mile trip with an empty horse trailer then 80miles home with two shires and a heavy box and after doing a flex plate id rather not again lol.

Is it worth refitting the power box. Is there that much benifit from it?

apart from it's effect on the gearbox it's not a problem, however I took mine off and sold it and I find I'm more than happy with the performance without it. The P38 as standard is way quicker than any of my previous 4 x 4's and I'm more interested on longevity than speed:D

Iv never seen this one without it or drove without it. Drove my pals unchipped but you drive different in someone else's car.

A friend's car he said, not a hire car!

I never fitted one after reading how they worked, for longevity reasons as much as anything else. I cannot remember exactly how it works but seem to remember it was something to do with fooling it into thinking there was less fuel going in than there actually was. Someone on here can probably explain it better. Either way, I felt that as my fuel injection pump (FIP) was already tired and a new FIP is would be a month's wages then I'd leave it. To be fair mine's a manual and I still think it is livelier than the automatic, albeit you have to drive it pretty harshly compared to the 4.6 or even a 4.0 petrol.

The only possible way to increase BHP and torque over the same rev range is to inject more fuel. No other way to do it. Simple physics.

i have one on mine.. it works great ( I'm on a Manual gear box though ).. on mine you can actually adjust the amount of 'extra' power too .. so have it set mid way..
i have taken it off on occasion to see what it's like.. and it really is a big change...
i keep mine ON...

Mine is a 2.5 DT auto. I spent some time going through all the pros and cons of chipping it, and read all the threads here about it. I was becoming confused  and didn't know what was best until the day that it dawned on me  that I don't even drive it as hard as it can go. I don't go as fast as it can go, I don't usually accelerate as hard as it could. What good would extra power do me? When I have been towing and it is a bit sluggish, guess what, I put my foot down a bit more ! :)
It took me a wee while to learn to drive it right, but there is a lot of power there in the last third of pedal travel... :)

It is great when you kick down it goes into 3rd and its actually shifts for a 2 n 1/2 tonne wagon. Wouldn't even think of these as a manual. I dont belt it from a standstill and always gradual if i do. Ah well il just leave it on and hope for the best

Any feel difference in the box normal driving without it?
Without the power box, it downshifts more to maintain speed as it needs more throttle, very noticable on long motorway inclines on cruise control. I use the gear lever quite a lot because held in third the torque converter locks at 40, if I have to stick at that speed I use third, it uses less fuel with the converter locked, I also use it for engine braking.
