Just got my 1999 DSE back from the local diesel specialist in Bridport after it's latest breakdown yesterday.
Apparently the in-tank fuel pump is duff, but the actual problem was that a priming bulb had been fitted under the bonnet, presumably because the pump had failed. Unfortunately the previous owner had fitted a bulb designed for petrol usage and the diesel had cause it to go soft and collapse when the engine compartment got warm which cut off the fuel supply.
The garage replaced the priming bulb with a proper one and everything is OK again. I'm still going to replace the pump as I can't believe that LR would fit a pump that wasn't needed, but it all seems rather odd so should I replace the pump or not bother ?
Anyway, Morey Diesel Service in Bridport was the garage that did the work, the bill was fair and I'd certainly go back to them. Well, I'll have to go back to them as I want them to fit the new pump
