Scary - pulling up to a busy roundabout first thing this morning, way was clear applied power after overun in 2nd and it all went dead. Luckily could brake in time to stop and hand enough steering.

Hands clasped together I hoped it would start, switched off all electrics (dark) and started no problems and continued on my merry way.

After a bit of research thought perhaps crank sensor or FIP but i think i managed to safely replicate the problem on the way home.

On cold start in the car park, i let it idle for about 60 secs, for the turbo, as i usually do then put the fans up to full whack and both heated screens on, (heated seats come on on their own anyway switched on or off ) and pulled off and went around the car park doing an over run in second at about 15mph and sure enough out it went. Obviously overloaded the electrics and idle speed first thing this morning causing it to stall below the set idle - and couple that with the worn FIP stop on the pump it cut out.

Might be worth considering if you find this in a search and experienced the same thing. Fine the rest of the way home....Just winter woes for me. Don't rule out number 4 injector or FIP to.

I had it a couple of times the other day all running fine every things been checked , all is running well miraculously stalled sitting at a junction . I had a low tank filled up and its only done it once just after filling I'm keeping the tank topped up whilst I keep an eye for a bit if all stays well . I'm going to let it run low in tank and see what happens if it starts again its a good enough indication to me in tank pump is failing. However putting every thing on in my case ie electrics and turning steering makes no differance . And mine wasnt really cold either .

Thought about that to...but my tank was just under full..although wont rule it out if it happens again..

I have had mine cut out on the overrun while decending a long hill and its quite scary as you have to put into neutral and restart without power steering.
Could it be that on the overun and in gear with the wheels turning the fuel is shut off for economy reasons. Usually when it cuts out it feels like the gearbox has gone into neutral and the engine has not got any fuel coming to the injectors. Now when decending a long hill i select 3 on the gearshift and havnt had any problems.
