Update:
Borrowed a mates MAF and voila! No more errors on the Nanocom.
With my Nano connected and my dodgy MAF disconnected I get:
  • Airflow sensor invalid value meter
  • Type: Too low, logged, current
  • RPM = 32
  • Water temp = 66
  • Occurance = 10
With MAF connected no fault found but no power at all again.
I installed my mates MAF sensor and cleared the faults and off it went, full power. I can also say that it lowers the MPG as well having a duff MAF.
So whatever a faulty MAF sensor does to the ECU and it does do something wierd, I have no idea how it messes up the gearbox and power delivery but it obviously does something very strange.

I did tell you that a duff MAF can cause the ECU to have a fit.
