I am now the proud owner of a 1995 300Tdi auto. It's been a long time coming but I finally have a Landy of my own.:) It doesn't exactly accelerate but...

Couple of Q's.

1) I've haven't driven autos much and never off road, in the snow etc. Any general tips.

2) The EGR. Why do people blank it off? Are there any disadvantages? Why did landrover put it on in the first place?

3) is there anyway to drain the auto fluid as some pillock overfilled it (no, not me)? I think over full isn't good though I don't know why.

use the difflock & tranferbox exactly as you would with a manual and the lower gears on the lever to lock the box down and prevent it from changing up if ya need to drive slowly.

egr is exhaust gas recirculation. and was fitted to get the landy thru increased emissions rules. Taking it off improves performance slightly and allows the engine to breathe better.

Good choice :D

The egr will put exhaust gas back into the inlet manifold, get rid and give it clean air to breath, also clean out intercooler, you can also change the front pipe to a de-cat version.

Egr
Puts exhaust gas back into engine to lower burn temp and reduce nox gas

Emissions bull****

Best tip fir driving autos is to figure out what and where the box changes gear. Then work out how to handle bends/corners etc without it changing gear on you. Your journey will be smoother and safer.
