Hi,
My disco 2 front propshaft U joints gave out last week. whilst getting those fixed I noticed that the center bearing was on its way out. Since I did not order the center bearing but still need the car, is it possible to drive the car with the cdl locked. I have to lock it from underneath since there is no lever in the cabin. I am a bit confused since the opinions on the net tend to go for a both yes or no

If you have the internals in the transfer box for the centre diff lock CDL, then yes you can drive the car with the front prop shaft removed and the CDL engaged. Some T-Boxes were built without the CDL internals. If you have the spigot at the top front of the T-Box the it's a reasonable bet that the internals are there too.
I would add that this is really an emergency "get you out of trouble" thing, so if you decide to use it, then keep the speed down, the vehicle won't handle as you're used to.
