Another tech q... I've got an old RR with central locking that works from the interior door pins but now the drivers outside door lock has ceased to do anything... but still turns. Could a rod have fallen off? Got the interior panel off but not sure what I'm looking for, it seems when I turn the key the inner part of the barrel moves but not the outer... (which moves when I use the door pins)... any ideas

(Are there any manuals / diagrams on line for these motors??)

This a common problem on Discoverys and Range Rover, there is a plastic bush held in a steel pivot pin on the back of the door handle.

The lever from the lock has come out of the pin allowing the lock to turn 360 degrees without undoing the door.

You will have to remove the door panel to access the rear of the handle. Undo the two screws from inside the door that hold the handle to the door just enough to unhook the door lock bar.

Take the handle and gasket off the door you should then see that the bush has fallen off or the lever pivot is missing the small steel retaining pivot, This is what allows the lock to turn the pivot and levers in the door.

If it is broken then you will have to get a new handle as this part is not sold on it's own.
