drive problem help please

ok been out playing today got stuck put it in to difflock got out but then when i went back to normal drive there was no drive. Now only got FWD with diff lock engaged. I have metallic noise coming from the rear. It is worse in reverse.

There is no drive in high or low in normal and only fwd in difflock low or high

Any ideas???

Sounds like you've broke the diff. Could be the pinion or crown wheel, which effectively means a second-hand diff, as new parts and fitting is prohibitively expensive. I just did mine with a complete axle off ebay for £80, a new diff starts at about £400 ...
'course, it could just be UJ's, if it's a 300 it could be the rubber cush drive coupling ... but I'd bet on the diff.

Could be just a half shaft.

Half shaft more likely than diff but could be diff.Mostly front diffs go on that so would expect half shaft.Either paid for to be repaired can be dear so go steady and find the prob before a garage starts.

Unlickley to be your UJ's as yuu would hear the prop bashing around inder the car

dont think there is UJ in the rear axle...only shaft.
