Hi All, would appreciate your thoughts! Battery light came on, popped bonnet to find drive belt tangled up where it had come off and has shred marks and rips as if caught on something. Limped it home as not even 5 mins away luckily.
Not convinced just a case of new serpentine belt tho, as when standing at the side of my disco looking along across the front, you can see that the drive belt tensioner is not quite right. It is leaning forward towards the fan as if it has been pulled front ways on - if that makes sense! Is this just where no belt on it and it is relaxed or does this mean a new drive belt tensioner - been quoted £75 :( or is there something else I can try? Maybe just whack a belt on see what it does??? Cant get picture on here but there is a pic on my twitter account of a view across front of engine bay and you can see the tension wheel leaning forward out of line :confused:https://twitter.com/mistletoeoaks
Many thanks
Lisa

Thank you ! Super fast reply:) Blimey that is a difference in price, hmm, right in that case will not be using who I asked and will eBay! Time to find my 15mm socket then :)
THANK YOU!!!

Check the stud that the tensioner goes on, its a steel stud that goes into an alloy casing, the thread quite often gets chewed up and fecked.

If the stud won't tighten properly, its not the tensioner, but the stud, which is an easy and cheap repair with a m10 x 1.5mm helicoil kit ( about £20 for a proper one on amazon/machine mart, or about £8 off evil bay for a cheaper copy kit).

Can you post a pic up so we can see?
