Hello. Im new on here having just purchased my first Landy, 2003 90. Ive had it a week and its been fine, but has now started beeping twice after i start it. Any ideas why, and how to stop it ? TIA.

ive been advised that its normally the sign of a main starter battery that either needs charging or is slowly dying. On starting the engine, the voltage drops to a level where the battery backup siren thinks the vehicle is being disabled.

That sounds a bit like something to do with the alarm/immobiliser. At least it's letting you start the car. Try a new key fob battery. The interior light and related door jamb switches can affect this too. Try switching the interior lights off so they don't automatically come on when the doors open and see if anything's different. If you've got a suitable fault code reader you can have a look at the 10AS alarm unit and see if anything can be adjusted and reset.

I've had a TD5 in various states of battery charge, from brand new and fully charged to flat as a pancake and it's never done that. If there's not enough in the battery, the engine won't start, because the ECU doesn't work if the voltage drops below about 8 volts.

It's not too hard with a meter to see what the battery voltage is when it's resting, when it's starting and when it's running. But if the engine starts, there's enough juice in the battery.

The only time I hear a double beep on my TD5 is if one of the doors is not closed properly and I try and lock it with the fob. Never had a beep when battery charge is low.
Same with mine 2 beeps only on locking up with the fob if a door is not shut properly or bonnet open
