front drivers door hinge pin is on its way out, so thinking I might do the 2 front doors at the same time.

I could replace the lot with aluminium, or stainless, but thats mega £££ (£200 for stainless, more for ally)
So, i got thinking, the actual hinge needs tarting up, but is ok.

Ive not seen any, but can you get just a stainless hinge pin? that coupled with stainless bolts when I put the hinges back on should stop that pesky rust stain shouldnt it?

the problem with hinge refurb is that as the pin wears the aperture for the hinge wears to this gives you the rusty stain running down,

Best to replace them with TD5 type hinges as these have a rubber washer (bush between the parts for the hinge and help cut down the rust stains

I was going to try and drive the worn pins out of my old hinges, ream the holes in the hinges, then fit some stainless pins to match the reamed hole. Trouble is I cant get the old pins out. They must have been pressed in under some pressure. No amount of banging is shifting them and I cant get them to line up properly to use a press because of their shape. Given the price of the new hinges its not worth the aggro.

they will be rusted solid, i pressed the hinge pin out of one of my old hinges. i fabricated and adaptor so i could use the press at work.

Plan was to bore the hole slightly bigger and use a stainless pin.

once they were split the shoulder of the hinge body was worn away pretty badly. I was gonna build it up with tig welding with 304 stainless wire and machine back.

Buy to be honest it was gonna be **** load of work as i had a 110csw at the time so i bought the TD5 style hinges, few coats of industrial primmer followed by some industrial black top coat ( done in the works paint shop (plant hire company))

they were still like new when i got rid of the landy a few years later
