Hi all,

I'm still new to the P38 and still learning, today I learnt about "Lazy locking" which I've had on other cars and its been handy feature so enabled it on the nanocom and gave it a try:

2 presses of the lock button on the remote and....

It locks without issue (or awful noise) on the first press.

Second press it pauses slightly and then god awful crunching noise, that sounds like plastic gears mashing into each other.

The windows stayed down too.

Anyone come across this?

Thanks in advance.

Its a: 2001 4.6 Petrol Thor - Vouge.

Superlock gears in the door lock possibly, I personally have disabled the superlock in my locks, more trouble than their worth.IMO

It does sound like it's coming from the lock area. I've heard of superlock but don't know much about it, time for some reading. How do you disable it?

I think you press and hold the lock button, for lazy locking but, it's nearly 5 years since I had a P38,
I do know pressing twice activates superlock, don't do it.

Lazy locking is used to close the windows and sunroof with the key. It is nothing to do with super locking (don’t ever super lock the thing!!!)

Depending on how you have it set up in the BeCM you either press and hold the lock button. The doors will lock, then about 2 seconds later the windows will close and finally the sun roof. You need to keep your finger on the lock button the whole time.

An alternative is to insert the key into the door lock and turn to lock and hold it there. It will do the same as above.
