So ive got a disco 300tdi and has been spot on up to now its running a bit sluggish for some reason wont go past 3k revs so when im towing or hit a hill in general and start slowing down i drop it a gear but instead of it reving high and keeping its speed or picking speed up it slows down till the rev counter hits 3k revs its almost like it's got a limiter fitted, ive tried all sorts its had new filters oil etc resently and started playing up before she was serviced.

Its just driving me mad because if ive got caravan on and hit a steep hill i end up crawling up in first gear then if you drop it into 2nd theres no power there and slows down!

I'll post a video now and thanks for any help guys!

Check all intake air hoses on the inside for de-laminations or splits.

.. and the accelerator pedal isn't getting caught on a mat or carpet!!! ;)

If intake is ok I would be thinking lift pump, do the tappets, check fuel pipes for holes including the leak offs, check throttle cable running nice and free and isn't slack. Then I'd be checking boost etc

Throttle cable adjustment did wonders for me. I couldn't believe the difference it made. Check for slackness.

My disco used to slow right down on long motorway gradients, it had multiple problems. Check all the things mentioned above plus the injector leak off pipes which can start to leak and stop you driving uphill. I eventually dumped the catalytic converter (replaced with straight through pipe), middle silencer and the EGR valve now it pulls up long hills at 60 in 5th gear.

I'm still banging my head over this although I've noticed a **** poor joint in the fuel line which has silicone on so I think this is my suspect, does anyone recommend any good fuel line I can use with bio ? As I tend to run it on bio in the summer.

Thanks guys
Josh

Viton pipe is good for bio resistance, but its pretty expensive, and can be hard to get in larger sizes, I use rubber and replace as required.
longer runs nylon airline is fine.
Viton can also be used for leakoffs as its heat resistant.
