Hello,

When going off roading does the vehicle have to be road legal that you are going to use for the day ?

Reason for asking is i can get a Disco but the mot has ran out and will cost around £700 i am told to mot.

And cannot realy afford to be insured in two land rovers.

If the vehicle is transported to a site on a trailer and the land that your driving on is private. and does not form part of a public highway then no it doesn't need tax, mot or insurance. But Green lanes are public highways and so will need Tax Test & Insurance

depends on your policy dont it? its a pretty grey area i guess. i would have thought they would like you to have insurance incase you crash into someone else.

I thought you had to take out another policy for off road use like track days and other events if you wanted insurance, it states on your policy that you are not insured for off road use like track days ......... etc

I'm with Adrian Flux and have breakdown and off road use (including pay and play) which actually does work as a guy rolled his new 110 in the quarry where i go and had it rebuilt on the policy.

Aye some do some don't it'll tell you on the site website if they do I know Tong does but that's more to make sure it's your vehicle and that your old enough to drive it. (I think it's a stipulation of their insurance)

I know some just get you to sign a disclaimer when you enter the site to cover themselves.
I go to avon dassett where as long as they get the money.....off you go :)
