dodgey squeaking??????

hi guys just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the sceeching noise my landy making? only just started minutes ago when i nipped out but its been fine all morning?? seems to be coming from the front passenger wheel area, got a disco 300TDI thanxx

Yer mite need to post a bit more info.. For example does it squeak when yer cornering/accelerating/braking/drivin in a straight line/driving at a certain speed?

yeah sorry, was happening when cornering cos thought it might be the brake pads, but tried braking downhill but doesnt make a noise?

Power steering squeak mebbe?

could be as sometimes it can grind as well! is this easy to sort?

drive shafts/bearings ? - not the sort of thing thats easy to say fer sure over the interweb - find a man with some spanners to elp

got an excellent mechanic fortunately, but seen him too much this year for my liking ha! is this gonna cost me loads??

dunno what the problem is so not much chance of knowing how much it'll cost to fix

Does it squeal when cornering tightly or just when cornering.

As for the grinding, does it happen when you turn full lock? If yes then your stops need adjusting to stop the wheel from being turned as far. If this sounds likely let us know and I or anyone else whos about can tell you how to sort this - its just a bolt that needs taken out a few turns and locked back up.

i would say cornering tightly, when driving straight there is no noise?????????

The squeal:
A small stone stuck between the brake disc and mud shield? It can also be between the pads and the disc or between the caliper and the disc.

Happened to me once and I thought that the car was breaking apart. It didn't squeal all the time - only occasionally, depending on how I drove the car.

Whatever it was has come out was driving along heard a stone or summat throw out........ no squeeling noise now
