Do side steps/bars cause a problem

Hey guys,

Looking into getting some side steps/ bars

But thinking that because they fit under Neath the side does this not get hit when off roading? Does t it reduce cleareance?

Yeah, they do get hit mate and you loose a bit of clearance. Have you thought about getting rock sliders instead?

Here , going on mine when I can afford them. DD has a pair on his and they look great!

Hmm! Unfortunately they look rather pricey!

I've seen a picture somewhere where the side bar was level with the sill, but can't find them for sale

my sidestep things are are bolted to the cahssis and go under the sill and thats my lowest part and the metal between sidestel and chassis not the thickest not even an inch thick to your not going to lose that much

Yeah I was thinking the same and was planning on getting steps. After seeing a few get bent on a off roading day I am more inclined to get some rock sliders

try lr supermarket on the interweb mate they do a set for just over £110 plus delivery thats where i got mine from

i have never had problems with mine

Just bought a Silverline rivet insert tool off a guy in merthyr on eblag. To fit second hand sidesteps to my freeby. Popped over to save a couple of quid postage and told him for my freelander and he had a genuine parts rivet set STC 50376 for a fiver.
Let ya know how i get on.

Even if the side steps are level with the seal the brackets hook round underneath and will get bent and damaged.

Rocksliderz are the way forward, ive got them fitted to mine.......alot cheaper than a new seal.

Just put on drivers side genuine fixing kit, easy ad pie.
Thought may as well put on side step before i turn the car around on the drive. DOH!
3 rivnuts on passenger side and silverline tool bit the dust
So if anyone sees a silver hardtop sport with only the drivers side, side steps driving around south Wales for the next couple of days its probably me.
