Do fuel injectors need to be replaced?

I need to sell the Defender as we're leaving the country. A potential buyer said he thought the fuel injectors needed replacing. Apparently, he could tell this by listening and feeling the exhaust from the pipe. The buyer has not had a Defender before. I was surprised at his 'diagnosis'. Some of it may have been lost in translation.
It's a 300Tdi, 9 years old, 101,000KM on the clock, regular oil and filter changes etc. driven in Mongolia which does add extra wear and tear, and fuel may not always be the best.
Might there be other symptoms? I'm not aware of loss of power or more black smoke than usual.
Any wisdom?

He's pulling your ****er, 200,000Kms and they may need looking at unless the fuel is very bad.

Does he stick his finger up your bottom and tell you you have a nose problem ?

The only way is to see the pressure and spray patterns (Unless they are totally knackered)....

He is having a Giraffe [laugh] not likely to be any problem with your well serviced/running motor at that kms.

Take them out clean them up on wire wheel and refit them, to his eye jobs a good un.

As above^^^^^^^, he is taking the ****. You need to remove the sprayers and test on a rig to diagnose all but the most severe faults.

Just trying to get the price down, tell him to eff off!

If it's running right and not smoking he can't tell from just looking and listening. As above replies: tell him to do one.

Did he say something along the lines of.... (kicks tyre) and those injectors are going to all need changing too... £150 each they are! better knock that off your price along with everything else I've pointed out to you.

Bearing in mind he deduced the injectors needed changing from seemingly listening to the exhaust, what was the prognosis from kicking the tyres...worn anti roll bar bushes?

Yes thats exactly what I meant, basically they dont need changing but clean them up tell new guy they have been serviced everyones happy.

There are some clever buggers out there, I remember one guy telling me my engine had a slight misfire, I couldnt hear it, some searching revealed on of the valve lash caps had broken giving me a 3mm valve clearance on cyl no 4, new cap and yes it defo ran better.
