Do all your series let water in through doors?

Heavy rain again at weekend. always wet on drivers side floor. dont know how it gets in. door seals arnt great (i can see daylight through them) but i dont think its through these. saw a droip of water on the bolt that connects door top to door bottom. then it runs down door skin into bottom of door frame, can hear it swishing round when open door. if i press the door skin the water comes out the top a bit. any ideas?solutions?

There maybe a link to "water ingress manual" if you search or google it ;)

As for the water in the bottom of your doors I think a drain hole might help solve the problem, dry it out well and give it a squirt inside with waxoyle ;)
 
I was thinking drain hole and some waxoyl. think i may renew all door seals at some point with a continuous strip.as its bits at the min. i assume this will be better.

landrovers are like flowers, if you let them dry out, they will die! :D
Seriously, many people, including me have spent a lot of time and money trying to make a Series landy watertight - it's nigh on impossible. They were designed as a farm/MoD vehicle!
The one piece door seal will help a bit, as will bending the door tops and adjusting the locks. It will still leak though.
 
Even my Dads TD5 defender 110 leaks through the doors turning the passenger footwell into a paddling pool so the type of door seal doesnt really make a great deal of difference!

Make sure the floor leaks as well. :D that way it's just passing through:p

Mine leaks through doors, roof, foot wells, oil seals. About the only thing that doesn't leak are the tyres.:)

But that's part of the charm.

In 60 years Land Rover never made a waterproof Defender or Series. The best way I found to solve the problem of flooded footwells was to remove the carpets and soundproofing, paint the inside of the footwell with exterior gloss, and drill a couple of hole in the floor to let the water out quicker.

They better not start. It's got BFG mt fitted plus what I call tyre slime to cure any holes while I'm out playing. I hate changing wheels off road.

Nah, everyone knows its a jinx when you yourself say it doesnt leak :D
 
It doesn't help that replacement sill to door seals in blue packaging seem to be made out of some super hard material. I finally got some ones made out of the proper soft grey rubber (from LR Series) which allows my door to shut properly and not leave a huge gap around the other seals. There's still a nice draft gap round the lock though to keep my elbow cool!
 
Where are the traditional leak hotspots. Yes doors, but are there any hidden routes in I can investigate? Because I can guarantee as I sit inside and hear the rain thrash against the lounge window, my pride and joy is filling up with h2o.
 
Mine, believe it or not is reasonably watertight when moving but when standing still in a steady downpour it leaks somewhere on the front bulkhead in the OS corner; I place a bucket to catch it. Door seals: I made mine using garden hose. Just split it and pop-rivet in place. It is pretty good, not perfect but ok and it will last for decades... Just choose a suitable colour, not yellow on a green Land Rover like mine.
 
Mine is leaking too from the top and running down the door frame and bulkhead onto the floor. It's driving (sic) me bonkers cos I've got new footwells and a well sealed floor. It's in danger of causing rust so much so I have to remove the footmats to ensure it dries. They designed the landy doors to leak of course :confused:.
 
Park facing up hill. If I park facing down hill it finds a way in from the gutter around the roof join (despite loads of sealant) or in round the door seals. I have rubber mats with a big lip round the edge so its contained in a pool. I've sat in it in the rain watching it pour in and still not found out how.
