Following on from the foamy goodness of the DIY phone/gps holder thread... I'm in the process of making a laptop holderiser thingy for me almost dormant netbook.

I've started by cheating slightly and ordering the following off ebay for 20 notes, as it'll cut down on fabrication malarkey no end...

Also ordered a fag lighter charger cable thingy at an eye watering 21 notes, but needs must anorl that.

Just waiting for the tray thingy to arrive so I can see where its gonna attach and what's gonna be trimmed and fettled so that its more suited to me and Drover!

Have you seen the cup holders in modern cars? They've obviously all been designed by graduates of the "Automotive Design (Cup Holder Sub-Category)" course at The Royal College Of Art. Pontyslapper can't compete with that. I'm going with Windows-Based In-Car Entertainment System.

Got an old but good hp mini netbook that was languishing down the side of the sofa and only used to mooch about t'intyweb during evening tv time.

Worked out how to get me samsung s3 gps signal to feed into the netbook so will use it as a giant satnav/ents box that can also feed into the tv screen mounted in the roof.

Just needs to convince SWMBO that memory map is worth forking out for... for when I is out wiv the scouts (or of course... laning ;) )

How did you get the gps signal into the netbook if you don't mind me asking ?

App called gps over bt from vasily saenko via play store.

Does the job tidy enough. Obviously you need to keep yer phone plugged in as gps drains the battery like fun.

My netbook has bluetooth built in. So it was then a case of getting the mapping software to recognise the gps via bt. Windowz did the necessary with drivers n that.

It was a bit of trial n error but its working with a free basic nav software. So I'm guessing it should work with the likez of memory map when I gets me grubby paws on it.
