DIY handbrake conversion

That's very generous. I think there are two pieces that would really help me - the above part, and a flange to mount the caliper to - both in 4mm or 5mm plate. I attach both files below. I would of course be happy to pay e.g. via Paypal or whatever.

OK both parts look easy enough. I will send something over to the jet cutters on Tuesday when I am back in the office - in the mean time I will see if I can get any bits I need drawn up.

Drawings have been sent in. Usually hear back from them within the day and then they schedule cutting - will keep you posted.

The parts...

Parts delivered - many thanks indeed to Discomania - and I've had time to weld some 16mm spacers to the caliper mount. The idea is that the caliper bolts through this via two bolts, and two more bolts assist in clamping it all to a cylindrical carrier which will pick up on the four bolt holes in the gearbox that would normally mount the handbrake. The result, below, will be removable to allow easy access to the propshaft bolts, as the cylindrical carrier piece won't come off without removing the propshaft and brake disc - something of a catch 22 situation. With this spacer allowing access to those bolts, the carrier won't have to come off at all. I may weld some plate in between individual spacers, but to be honest they're so broad and stiff that I don't think it's necessary:

I honestly don't know! The standard drum wouldn't fit with my rear propshaft, so this was the only real option for me.

Changing to a disk handbrake is usually better than a drum mainly due to water and mud getting into a drum, staying there and gumming the actuators up, basically stopping the standard hand brake from working properly or well. Most off-roaders use the E-eng brake 'cos it's lighter, but also it's an off the shelf solution, but it's £250+ ..

After an incredibly long pause, I've finished the fabrication work on the mount itself. Just needs cleaning up and giving a good coat of paint:

And here's the completed mount assembly. A couple of coats of red oxide and everything looks much more uniform.

Hey those bits are beginning to take shape now! Keep me informed as if you didn't mind I would get another one of them cut and do this myself!
