I was rummaging through the back of my shed today and found an old disc braked axle casing with callipers and discs but nothing else. I was given it ages ago and the guy said it was a disco one. I know it's a pretty simple conversion and thats not a problem, i did one with a mate a few weeks ago. I can't work out what model this axle came off though, it has anti-rollbar mounts if that helps? I need to know this so i can get the right bearings, discs, pads, seals and drive flanges etc

Also it has some funny looking cups on the shock brackets, if i fit it to my 1989 90, should i grind them off or just let the bushes sit inside?

I can stick up more pics if it helps

Cheers guys, Harry

The cups look like the remains of shocks and will probably come off with a hammer and cold chisel (rusted on I would expect).

IIRC anti-roll bars make it a 300 series Discovery which is post-94.

I have a complete rear axle under an H-reg Disco with brakes and all in the workshop if that is any use to you.

the cups are not part of old shocks, the axle is from an air suspension equipped range rover classic. that would make it post 1991 I think. Grind them off and it'll be normal again!

Do you think that my 10 spline diff/half shafts/drive flanges should all fit inside it?
I have put 10 spline inside a 24 spline casing and you need to use the bolts that match the casing for the drive flanges......and IIRC you will need to open the holes in the drive flanges a little as there is a metric/imperial mismatch.

Hope that makes sense.
