Good day all, from a new member.
I have a 2001 Discovery 2 TD5 which I use only occasionally. After sitting on my drive for around 2 months, the battery had gone flat, to the extent that the central locking would not work from the key fob.
I made use of my homestart breakdown cover and called out the rescue van. After the fitter had unsuccessfully tried to open the driver's door, I suggested that he connect his jump leads to the starter motor to give a feed to the battery. This he did, and I was then able to unlock the car from the key fob.
However, I put the battery on charge, leaving the battery connected to the car. After a few hours, I disconnected the battery charger and was able to start the car on the first turn of the engine. So far, so good.
I reconnected the battery charger for an overnight charge -- I had locked the car, but left the bonnet ajar overnight. The next morning, when I disconnected the charger, I find that the rear air suspension is partially deflated. As I did not have time to do anything else until I returned home from work, I left the car with the bonnet ajar (just in case the battery was had it, and I couldn't open the bonnet again!). When I get into the car and put the key into the ignition, as soon as I turn the key to start the car, there is no life from the starter, but the alarm sounds. The alarm warning light flashes rapidly and continuously. I do not understand how I was able to start it without any problems the previous evening yet now I seem to have all sorts of electrical problems preventing me from starting the car. What have I done, and any suggestions as to what I do from here, please?
