EVER WONDERED WHY YOUR TDI DISCO IS SO SLOW TO TURN OVER IN THE MORNING?
well i think i have found the fix, i have always noticed that defender tdis always turn over faster than discoveries

today i fixed my problem by removing the CATALYTIC CONVERTOR!!

YES
the back pressure caused by a blocked cat actually causes the starter motor to turn the engine over at half the speed it should!!
so its always worth checking out!
feedback always welcome

Mine turns over slow and the cat has already been removed, I have also tried heavy jump lead between neg on bat to engine block but no change.

Slow turning over is usually bad connections on your earths or live connection to the starter. A mate of mine had a knackered cat on his 90 which caused much smoke, misfiring and general bad running, took it off and problem solved.

Major cause of cranking speed difference is oil. Thicker oil causes more resistance, especially when very cold!
Put Edge TD 5W-40 in mine, turns over like a dream even when minus 5 or lower :)
partly helped by lower cold viscosity, partly due to fully synthetic build meaning it's very 'slippery'. Still nice and thick when hot, and protects better as it's synthetic
