  1. Afternoon all,

Could anyone please help out regarding my discovery td5,

Took it out yesterday morning and parked it up for the day, went to start it in the afternoon and wouldn't fire, I noticed it was low on fuel so topped it up with 15lt

No fuel pump noise and no glow plug symbol,

I've checked through the wiring today and there's power to the relay but not getting to the pump, I used my probe to put power from the relay socket to the pump and it works, bridged relay terminals and tried to start still nothing, it will fire off easy start,
Checked ecu to find a bit of oil in the plug, cleaned with brake cleaner,

Tbf I've been at it all day and have got nowhere, next step a box of matches a gallon of petrol lol,

    Any advice would be apprciated

    Many Thanks

    James

You've got power to the in tank pump but nothing from the pump itself? Or have I read that wrong?

Keys in, ignition position 2, do you have dash lights and can hear the fuel pump running before cranking?

Evening smithy,

No whining from the pump and no glow plug lights,

I've put power direct to the pump and still don't start

If you've got power to the pumps electrical connector (harness one) but pump won't run even with external power feed to it yer pumps fooked init.

R.e glowplug lights sure it's not cuz you've cycled ignition on and off a few times trying to start so they're already up to temp? Otherwise I dunno on that.

Stay away from easy start, td5s don't like it from what I've read

Sdorry When I run power from the the relay socket the pump whines worse than my Mrs so think pumps fine,

Relay then? Pumps buzz but shouldn't be overly loud. If it's squealing and all sorts it's either fooked or nearly there.

What about dash lights? Just no glow plug or everything off?

Buzz ain't that bad,

Tried swapping relays and bridge the terminal, pump buzzing and still don't start,

How low on fuel did it get? Try purge procedure - key to ignition 2, pump accelerator 5x to floor. The MIL light will start flashing and you should hear the pump cycling on and off for a good 5mins. Do that a couple of times then try cranking. Need a healthy battery mind.

+1 what @neilly said as well

It didn't run out,

Ive tried the purge cycles, and battery is fine, also had it jumped of a van running,
