Discovery TD5 EGR removal

Hello All,

I have a TD5 ES on a 2000 plate and have the following question.

Would removing the EGR valve be beneficial to the TD5, or a complete waste of time. My Beast is an Auto, just curious, but will it give me any benfits or not really noticable????

Get ready for the normal arguments
do a search on here for egr and read the pros and cons
buy a blanking plate and try it mine performed alot better (300TDi)
should be the same
thats my answer so i will stick to it

I had it done on my 300tdi and it was noticably better, especially if you drove it like you stole it!!!!!

I am less convinced with the TD5 as i am concerned that it has more bearing on running of the vehicle, being as they are so many electrical systems that inter relate.

I have a 300tdi currently residing in a 110 csw with no EGR or cat, and it`s triffic AND i`m getting 35mpg`s so it`s all about personal pref`s eh
tek it off.

Defender td5.Blank off the port on the exhaust manifold, watch the screws they may break! Fit the new connector. inlet manifold to intercooler remember to replace gasket. Blank off the vacume hose that led to the vlave. Do not bin the old valve and pipe, it may be needed in the future if the M.O.T. requirements change. The exhaust may be a bit smokier. It is not the level of smoke they measure on the M.O.T its the contents. Enjoy.

Do it and a decat and will be a different beast 100% recommended.
