Discovery Series 2 Body Repairs

Good evening all,

Due to listening to Sultans of Swing at full tilt and not paying due attention, a very careless bollard managed to reverse into me ... . A friend quoted £1000+ for replacement and fitting of panels. £1000+ ...! This might end up the most expensive Dire Straits album I've ever purchased.

Has anybody had a crack at home body repairs or know of any independents who could work some magic on the old girl?

Although the paint that has gone needs to be replaced a chat with a "paintless dent removal" geezer might produce a cheaper option than a grand

Its a land rover

Its now a real land rover with a battle scar - just take it into a muddy field and get it dirty.

I agree with getting muddy, however with the car being new to me there is a want to keep her looking pristine for as long as I can...!

I got a friend who has slide hammers so that might be another option!

Unless your friend has a fair amount experience I wouldn't play with it. Owning the tools is one thing...

He is handy enough. Although, if it goes Pete Tong then it gets pricey. What would your recommendations be?

Where are you based? There is an excellent father and son owned body shop near me - SW Herts. They did a fantastic job on my son's car when it was set upon by a crash barrier, and at a very reasonable price ( for down here)

Well let him have a look at it and if there's a lot of scratching of nuts and humming then you know it is probably best to find someone else via a recommendation for where ever you are =>

The problem with that repair is that it is a nasty crease right on a joint of two parts. With enthusiastic use of a slide hammer you could do more damage.
