hi

I’m afraid cranks can snap, JLR won’t admit there’s a problem, engine will be junk so u might be looking at 5k plus just for another engine

however has that been confirmed as maybe another issue

Any recommendation's as to where I could get it sorted. I would be prepared to replace with a new or reconditioned unit as the rest of the vehicle is as new. I think it would be worth spending the money.

Unfortunately there are loads of crooks taking advantage of people in your position.
The best thing to do is get it to an LR independent garage, and ask them to source a second hand replacement (Jaguar TDV6 3.0 are the same), but be aware, that it can happen again at any point, but equally it may be fine for the rest of the vehicle life.
Expect to pay £3500 to £5000 for a second hand replacement, depending on seller, completeness and mileage on the engine. Obviously fitting one of these engines is a lot of work, so expect to pay a sizable amount on labour too.

Good luck.

I believe LR were supplying brand new bare engines for circa 5/6k, not sure if that is still the case?

LR used to supply a new 2.7 short block for £1200+ vat, until TATA took over, when the price shot up by 300%.

It's worth checking with LR, but I suspect the OP would see little change from £10k for a new complete 3.0 engine.

Bloke I know was telling me his mate with 2016 discovery 4 the engine failed and as he bought the car from Land Rover and after some arguing they fitted a brand-new Land Rover engine, a few weeks later that same brand-new engine failed again, as apparently the garage had failed to clean out some pipes I’m not sure what but now the dealer have washed their hands of the vehicle.

Another bloke where I work also has a 2016 discovery 4 and he is also suffering engine issues, I am not sure what as I do not want to ask and get involved with it!
Once again it is a Land Rover approved vehicle and Land Rover want two hundred pounds just to plug-in the code reader!
