Hifolks I'm looking for some advice, I was driving along the other day, then all of a sudden I got a really bad shuddering throughout thevehicle. Don't know what that was, so went a bit further till I could pull in. As soon as I tried to go down the gearbox, I couldn't get 4th, but got 3rd finally pulled off the road and things gotworse I went from getting 3 gears to onlybeing able to get first in the space of5mins. Many people have said it could bethe bias plate, others said it could be the box itself. So need some advice

Bias plate may give you issues with selecting a gear but it wont cause shuddering. Time to drop the gearbox oil to see how much oil is in it and if there is any swarf / chunks of metal on the magnet.

+1 - first port of call in such circumstances. Good Luck :)

Thanks, I'll do that. If I end up changing the box do I also need to replace the clutch?

It could easily be the clutch going out to lunch too ... I'd say it depends on how it looks when it's all out, and it's mileage so far. They don't cost a lot, relative to the time taken to remove a gearbox, so it's probably worthwhile, but also change the release bearing and and possibly the clutch fork ... ;)

I have had a quote for the box to be fitted, 400quid. And that is for a days labour, New clutch kit, all fluids. I just got to find a decent gearbox now. Had quote for the gearbox from £90 to over a grand.
