Since this bad snow every morning I’ve got into the lr3 auto it’s been a nightmare to start and it’s coming up transmission fault on the screen?? It keeps saying it’s in drive in sports mode when it is atcully in Park. When it starts the stick moves freely and selecting Park, drive and reverse? Any ideas.?? Thanks

are u able to establish from service history etc when it was last serviced

ie when the fuel filter was last changed , also if indeed if the glow plugs are working

are u handy with a multimeter as u could check the fuse for the glow plugs and if they are indeed working

ref diagnostic reader , many of us who own D3 buy the gap iid, alas are £420 but pay for themselves very quickly

there are cheaper ones but of course don’t do as much but at least plugging one in will tell u if there’s any fault codes and should be able to tell u if ur glow plugs are working

PS , what year is it please , also assume you’ve had the front and rear belts replaced along with the oil pump cover checked or replaced accordingly

its got full service history with it last one was a year ago so due one soon, it’s a 2007 hse it’s just done 101,000 belts were changed at 98k on the paper work, I’m a bricklayer by trade so anything to do with cars is beyond me Stuart but really want to learn about the discovery 3 as I find them interesting. u will also find plenty of help here so at least u know there always info if u get stuck, as god knows ive always asked

as a side note please ensure u get ur oil pump checked out, if it was upgraded when the belts were done

plus don’t forget when u can some piccies plse, we like piccies , the D3 that is, lol

Down near Canterbury, I’ve only owned it for 2 weeks, the man put a brand new battery on it when I bought it it, the battery has a 5 year warranty, do you think it’s a lemon battery or could it be glow plugs.?? Thanks
