my 200tdi was breathing heavily.would really appreciate any ideas of what could be the cause and the best way to sort it. it now sounds like it is down on one cyinder and clouds of blue smoke is pumping out of it. running out of ideas now and thinking of getting rid, checked timeing, changed injector pump.any ideas would help!! cheers simo

you can check all rockers are working correctly and not got worn valve cap or broken/worn brass follower but also obviously could be blown piston,or head gasket removal would show,on the not so bad side can get decent disco 200 for £200,which is often cheaper than repair ,unless head gasket or valve not opening fully

thanks for your info allready checked the rockers and push rods and they were all fine. think i might pull the head and have a check before i buy another engine many thanks again simo

check for compression pressure of each cylinder. and it should not less than 17 bar.If it is ok then check for air cleaner chocking. replace air filter element if chocked.
