Hello,
please can someone advise me if 100,00 miles on a V8 i Discovery 2 is high and will it be worn out.I would not worry so much if it was a diesel I had aTD5 for 10 years and it was very good. But this car is different for me, never had a big V8 before.I think it was a Jam import originally a few years back and has some service history, much is written in Japanese. Dealer tells me its service history is good.Car looks tidy but i keep thinking 100k on a petrol engine or is it different for a V8 please.
Be grateful for any guidance on anything i need to check. Thank you.

100k is feck all for a maintained unit.
I'd sooner have a higher mileage maintained v8 than a low mileage neglected one..

i'd also argue the V8 is easier and cheaper to maintain than the TD5

Even better a low mileage fully maintained V8. :D

Out of of the four V8 engined vehicles I’ve owned since 1985 the RR 3.5 I purchased 1987 had the highest mileage and was serviced by a MainDealer twice a year for the ten+ years I owned it.
Unfortunately the 3.5 dreaded camshaft wear made its self known at 102,000 miles... so much for the high mileage and maintained V8 is preferable theory... a £1000 later it was back on the road, fortunately that was the only major issue it had in its life with me, and it was sold six months later. :(

Cam wear on the 3.5 is well known.

A chap on the U of tube did a top end on his 190k 3.9 with the original cam, wasn't too bad condition wise!
