Ive got a 2000 V8 Disco and when I turn the wheel the steering goes from heavy to light several times in one full circle.

Ive changed the power steering pump and loosened off all joints as I thought I had a tight joint (they weren't that bad)

im now stuck as to what it can be

has anyone else had and sorted this issue or knows what it is?

thanks in advance

I have to ask...
Did you refill with steering fluid? Did you bleed the steering system after you replaced the pump?

You must have a loose connection somewhere if it's sucking air. Keep in mind the steering fluid normally looks like its bubbling in the reservoir.
Try bleeding the system again. Jack up the front, start up your Disco, slightly open the bleed port on top of the steering box to bleed the system while someone else turns the steering wheel from lock to lock.

UPDATE - jacked up and bleed nipple opened - when i turn the wheel right fluid comes out, when i turn the wheel left it sucks air. shouldn't it be bleeding fluid out which ever way i turn it ??
