Discovery 2 ignition stays on for 20 seconds unless you press brake

hi all.

Got this issue on my d2. Absolutely driving me mad.

If you turn off engine, it keeps running with all igniton light's stopping on for about 15 seconds or so.

If you press the brake pedal it all goes off.

If you hold your foot on the brake pedal and turn the key too the off position it all turns off perfect.

Ive so far.

Changed starter motor
Checked all relays
Disabled towbar power cables.
Checked earthstrap
Changed brakepedal switch
Changed ignition switch
Cleaned ecu terminals
Tried a differnt ecu
Checked bcu for water damage

All recommended off members off facebook owners club pages.

I cant just keep throwing money at it.

Any ideas?

In the old days I'd have said this was a sticky stop solenoid!
But modern engines aren't so simple.
Is it really such a problem you can't live with it? Or is it an MOT issue?
I'd be checking the wiring from the ignition switch and from the brake pedal switch.
Does it always start OK, with no need to press the brake pedal or anything?
Have a funny feeling it could be summat to do with the cruise control, especially if pushing the brake pedal stops it all going wrong.
But doubteless @sierrafery will be on soon and he is "da Geeza" whan it comes to electricals.

It doesnt have cruise.

Also it does it if you turn on the igntion only.
You turn key and take it out, igntion will stay on for about 15 seconds unless pressing the brake.

I can live with it,, but would like to know if anything should ever happen and i need to sell, it would not have any issues.

As a quick test, isolate completely the alternator (main lead & multiplug or fusible link 1 and drive belt) and see if there's a change in behaviour.

Yes, after so many parts changed without a proper troubleshooting better replace the interior fusebox too cos it's very suspect. disconncect the battery before the swap, then after recconnection turn ignition on 2 and let it so 5 minutes... buy a fusebox removed from the same type vehicle(facelift or not)... as long as you didnt bother to say what year is your's i can't tell you more

A fusebox. Ill have a look around.
Ive changed so much to now and still no joy.

Have you had any joy with the issue?

Afraid that post gone dead mid 2020 and the op didn't bother to tell us what was the solution.

I notice "thank you" wasn't in his vocabulary either.
