I've got a 98 disco (v8) that has had a bunch of random electrical issues lately centering around the alarm/locks. The battery croaked recently and ever since replacement the alarm and locks have been acting up. First the hazards wouldn't turn off unless the rear door was open, I did some bypass down in the passenger footwell with the black/red wires that I saw in a thread where a guy was having the same problem. Hazards now work correctly but locks and key fob are going nuts.

The rear door lock works via the key fob, no other door responds to the key fob. Key fob however only works occasionally. Opening the rear door sometimes results in all of the locks locking and unlocking rapidly, but not always. Operating the drivers door lock used to lock and unlock everything, now nothing happens. I'm sure something alarm related is to blame but I'm lost. I've done the lock and unlock with key three times thing, nothing changed. Tried the key fob tricks too, nothing again. At this point I'd be happy with the locks being disabled so I'm not locked out randomly but of course I'd like things working correctly. Also on a side note, is there no lock/unlock switch in this thing? Thanks.

Is your charging system working OK? I suggest a voltage test.

Some or all those faults could be caused by low battery voltage, maybe your old batter was not the root cause of the problem.
