Hi Guys, just to say hello. I bought a Discovery 1 300 tdi today, my fourth over 20 years but I need to reintroduce myself to these vehicles. I live in the Basingstoke area.

Thank you. Well, Project - no and then yes, I guess. I bought it privately with a new MOT with all welding done and I inspected it, so all was well. I just drove it home and it feels a little old, sluggish, a bit whiney and the cruise control does not work (currently looking at threads about this but noticed all the vacuum pipes are disconnected for some reason???). I need to go through the whole vehicle, with all new oils, greasing etc. I booked it in for an auto transmission oil change. The interior is a little grubby, so I need to give it a spring clean.

I would get the engine etc checked out , before you start spending money cleaning it up .. get someone that knows about landrovers and what to look at . Get timing belt etc changed. At least you know it's done . Can be a money pit if not all is well . Enjoy the fun/ anger .. lol of owning one

Hi and welcome!

A full service and timing belt should work wonders. A new lift pump might also help.
