Quick ............start a Disco 3 faults poll

Prove who wrong? Do new land rovers not come with 3 year warranty?
The clutch only lasts around 25,000 miles but it appears that's the drivers fault and not a build issue.

It will be another 7 or 8 years before it affects me coz cant afford anything else till then

Our disco 3 is about 3 or 4 years old now and if you take a look underneath there is a tiny amount of surface rust but it's 100% solid. Is it even possible to break a disco 3? they're like tanks. I used ours to straighten out the front end of my 90 by tying it to it and driving away. Great tools when you have another landy.

Not rust he is talking about...

so....bought a new disco 3 TD V6 XS in march 2009.

Took it back to main dealer for inspection 2 weeks ago (18 months old) detachable towbar had both sideways and upward movement probably somewhere between 1/4" and 1/2". They want to fit a new back crossmember...gobsmacked, don't want a new car with crucial bits "repaired"! Could have bought a couple of write offs and put them together!

Apparently, the bit that the towbar fits into has worn, and it is welded to the rear crossmember, so the whole section needs replacing.

"Oh! by the way, we recommend that you don't tow until repaired!"

Asked the agent to replace the car with no profit for them, less any depreciation on the 18 month old car, so it is going to cost me, whatever happens!!

They say, "can't do that, what if it does it again on the next car?"

What have I bought into? Thought I had bought a car that tows...

Any thoughts anyone... is this a common fault?

Stop scaring the nice people...

i cannot see anything wrong with a new crossmember welded in if that is what it needs, but are we to presume the towbar was used whilst loose thereby stretching the bracketry. for serious towing of which disco 3 is very capable have a fixed towhitch fitted with the lower pulling supports, and just have the bracketry removed using the mini cut off discs in an air grinder.
