Hi, i have started off road and managed to get some old steel wheels off a defender 205 16" my disco has 235 alloys just now. Can anyone tell me if 205 wide tyres will be ok for off road disco? i have found some decent mud tyres for these rims just not sure to get them or not, thanks for help

you can run 235's on a disco, in fact some models have 235's as standard but if you are trialing you may want to change the wheels too. The simple steel wheels available have a geater offset than landrover wheels and give little more lock. The ALRC rules allow up to 4" offset, standard wheels are about 3"

The mesurment from the knave plate to the rim inner edge.

My Disco (1997 Tdi) has 205/80x16s on its original standard steel wheels. I think the alloys had 235/70x16s as standard. Mine has road-biaised Pirelli Scorpion S/T tyres but any full profile 205 tyre should be fine on the steel rims - I think Defender rims are a straight fit on a Disco 1.

i got 235/85/16s on my disco, they were already on there when i bought it but they dont cause any problems and im sure the stock ones are 235/70/16 anyway.

When I bought my trials tyres they fitted 235/85/16 by mistake. (I ordered 235/70/16) they looked huge. I cant imagine fitting taller than 70 without some trimming although the 235 width is a standard size
