Hi,
I'm new and due to an unexpected addition to the family i need a seven seater. Cannot bear the thought of a people carrier and desperate to hold onto my car so looking at a 300 series tdi 7 seater Disco for the missus....I have never owned a landy before so not sure what to look out for, apart from the obvious, service history, worn out gearboxes, major rust..etc
Expecting to spend around £2.5k ish for a '94/95 model, i know i won't get a perfect vehicle for that money but need something that will last a couple of years without any major bills.....
So to all you Disco experts out there....whats the niggles and major walk aways on Disco's.....
Secretly looking forward to "testing out" 4wd as i have never owned one before.
Thanks in advance

Hello

If your looking for a 4X4 for the misses to use ~ then buy my Monterey !!!!!

Cheaper to run than any disco and better road manners !!!!!!:D

Plus you will have enough cash left over to insure it for the year !!!!!:D

Thanks for the offer but i need 7 seats and i've set my heart on a Landy..
If the monterrey has 7 seats and is a derv then mail me some pics and i'll have a look as i'm not familiar with them..

Cheers

Hello

Its a factory 7 seater and theres more room in it than a disco !!!!!!:p

Its a 3.2 V6 Petrol ~ but it returns 24+mpg !!!!!:D

Try and get that out of a Land Rover !!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D

Cheers retsgom,

I really am only going to consider a diesel as i will be using biodiesel or a 60/40 mix with veggie oil...( duty paid of course  )

Thanks anyway

Your Welcome Matey.

The only advice i would give you ~ is to look at LOTS before you buy.

Im a lawyer and people who get ripped off by the motor trade help to pay my mortgage every month !!!!!

The other members on this site will do all they can to help you ~ So dont be afraid to ask questions no matter how daft they may be !!!!!!

There a great bunch on here and im proud to be a member ( LUMP IN THROAT) !!!!:p :p :p

one thing to check out before you buy the car, is how the person before you drove it...with a landy, if they drove it really aggressively, then the engine might not last as long as if they used it, say, to go to church and grocery shopping every sunday...if you can, buy it from the origional owner and not the dealership. as for any major bills, who knows, its a land rover!
