Hi all,
Hope I can get some direction here.
I purchased a 2002 Disco 2 V8 ES in August 2011. Car ran fine then became lumpy prior to MOT in 2012. Advised to fit new plugs and leads so did so and it ran great.
MOT failure on lambda, took the disco to local Landrover specialist who plugged it in and identified bad upstream lambdas (no signal) but no CEL. Turned out that the Check Engine Light was on and had been covered up by previous garage/owner. I know what your thinking, I didnt check this on purchase, but I did and the light came on with ignition and went off when started on test drive day. They must have known about this fault, reset the car and covered it up after purchase and prior to collecting it and I never noticed this again.
Anyway, had both sensors replaced in August 2012 and the CEL staid off for 15 miles and when hawkeye was plugged back in it came up with same fault (no signal). The car has been back in the garage several times and each time the CEL comes back on after 10-15 miles driving or 30 minutes idling.
I have also replaced temp sensor and MAF.
The cat has two upstream sensors and two downstream sensors.
I have noticed that the new upstream sensors have grey connectors and the vehicles connectors are orange, not sure if this is OK or not.
Fed up going in and out of the garage!
Please help, any pointers greatly appreciated.
Mark
