My mate has got some play in his top swivels (95 Disco V8).
If it were my depender, I'd be whipping the top pin out and removing a shim.
However, his has got ABS and the wheel sensor goes through the top pin.
Can I just take the top pin out, with the sensor still attached, remove a shim and replace it? Or do I need to remove the sensor from the pin first?

Am I likely to cause him any problems with his ABS system - light on, requiring a fault code reset for example? If so, I might as well leave it to the garage, cos they'll charge him enough to reset the fault code - they miht as well do the shim as well.

Had a look at RAVE, but it's not much help.

Cheers muchly for any advice.

You can pull the top pin out with the sensor in or removed, add or remove shims then refit. As long as the ignition is not switched on you will be OK.When you refit the top pin tap the sensor in with a hammer and punch - the reluctor ring will reset the air gap when you spin the wheel.
