disco td5 fuel pump

my disco td5 today has gone wild it stook flat out 3 times and the intank fuel pump is wining please help what is it????? and its up and down when reving

If you tell us what "stook flat out 3 times" means we may be able to assist.

The fuel pump alwayas whines.
If it gets noisier than usual it is often only because you need a new fuel filter.
Fit one - it is behind the rear right wheel.

it was the pump... as for the disco reving on its own it still doin it inbetween gear change it revs on its own ???? and sticks???? for a few seconds

Sounds like you need a new accelerator pedal. But you need a pooter to prove that.

A late answer, but my excuse is that I've only just registered on the site.

If the problem is that the engine revs don't drop, or even rise, when you lift off to change gear the problem could be with the clutch switch. This widget is part of the clutch hydraulics and lives on the r/h inner wing next to the hydraulic fluid reservoir. When you press the clutch the signal from this device reduces fuelling, and also I think disengages cruise control.

Replacing it worked for me!
