today when travelling back from a family day out my disco fuel light came on then I lost all power and had to pull over.
when I got out it was clear that all the diesel had spewed out the tank and the whole back end of my disco was covered in diesel, (not good when I had just filled her up and washed n polished her thismorning!!!)
I had only done 66miles and was stranded!
had to join the AA to get recovered back home (£145 lighter:mad:)
anyway could any of you lads on here shed any light on what the problem might be???
when I switch the ignition on I can hear the pump/sender bubbling (no diesel to pump as its all over the road:( somewhere!)
could I be right in thinking that it may be as simple as a fuel line has come out/disconnected itself in some way and with the pressure of the pump emptied the tank rapidly?
or could it be a replacement sender/ pump that I need?
help please:confused:

Check your fuel filter is tight on the housing behind the driver side back wheel and pipe connections there aswell.

On the other side of the chassie is the main fuel line to the engine check the connection there.

Lift the carpet in the boot and the cover plate to get to the feul pump and there's another 4 connections there if none of these look supect put some fuel in the tank and switch on the injection it could be the high pressure hose to the engine just above the chassie cross member has worn through and is leaking all the diesel out of the tank.

Had to change the hoses on mine cost between £40-£50 for all 4 and are easy to change.

+ fone the highways agency to get the diesel mopped up! Could be lethal to a biker having 80 litres of derv on the black stuff....

As above I'd be tempted to get a jerry can of derv, pour a bit in and turn on the ignition and see where its coming out!

cheers lads, I got it sorted thismorning :D!fuel pipe had split so replaced it, cheap fix at £20!
as for the diesel on the road I had it sorted straight away the council spread grit or sand over the affected areas. (being a biker myself I have been on the receiving end of diesel spill!!! not fun).
thanks again for your replies.
