I bought a discovery td5 a couple of weeks ago with a faulty clutch ,it was ratteling when the pedal was pressed and it was hard to get the gears,
Bought it and drove it home ,got the gearbox out to fit the new clutch and decided when it was out the dmf didn't seem right so got the whole lot ,dmf, clutch plate ,pressure plate ,release bearing ,spigot bearing and new bushes for the clutch arm, refitted the whole thing then found that I couldn't get the cluch pedal to work so after hours trying to bleed it bought a new slave cylinder more hours later ordered a new master cylinder still spent hours trying to bleed it , anyway finaly got what feels like a decent pedal but still can't get first gear easy and can't get reverse at all with the engine running
The pedal only has about 10mm freeplay at the top until there is resistance and when it's in gear it bites not far of the floor
I was woundering if anyone has had problems with the slave to clutch arm rod wearing not allowing the clutch to disengage or are britpart slave cylinders poor
any help please very sick again why do I buy landrovers ?

happenedd to me exactly the same........ u are an unlucky guy just like me..... the AP clutch kit which i've purchased was sh*t... removed the gearbox once again... fitted borg&beck kit and everything is ok now...... a m8 from an other forum teached me something brilliant.... stuck the clutch pedal all the way down with a piece of wood or somethin over night....in the morning u'll have a sticky pedal.... IMO if u'll have hard gearing after that bite the bullet and replace the clutch kit again.

I was driving and suddenly clutch failed and pedal went down to the floor... then got very hard so I pressed with force and went down again... I stopped and all fluid leaked out from slave cylinder... I went to the garage, we removed the gearbox, slave cylinder broken, push rod bent and other small parts in bits also...new Valeo clutch kit fitted, new slave cylinder, all new push rod and bits bought from dealer, gearbox fitted and problem with bleeding... bought new master and still same... tried to pewer bleed but in their box with about 10 adaptor caps, noone fits disco brake fluid reservoir... tried one which suck fluid, reverse bleeding, with front up in the air, bleeding from master, from joint where pipe which is above master ( I have a dumper fitted on RHS wing and all extra pipework is above master, what a idiot design), still pedal "spongy" , can't put the gear on, when gear engaged and brake pedal pressed, I can start the engine and drive like automatic as clutch is slipping so I'm very close to success...two weeks in the garage now , had also waterpump replaced( took nearly 2 days, 3 bolts snapped and pump was seized in), really run out od ideas, can not find adaptor cap which will fit my disco... thinking also to change clutch pipework getting pipe from master to go down below instead up, fit dumper on bulk head and joint the pipe going to slave... as its done in other cars, where master cylinder is above the rest and there is no problem with bleeding
