disco td5 automatic

hey i have a discovery td5 auto the gearbox oil ran low so i topped it up now have no reverse gear could any one shed lite on this ? thanks geth

OK did you top it up then go through the gears?
What I mean is.
Park it up hand brake on, wheels chocked, some one inside with their foot on the brake.
Engine running and while you pump the oil in slowly go through all the gears up and back down till it starts coming out of the fill hole ?
Was it working ok till you put the oil in?

hi yes my dad was sat in it moving up and down through the gears with the engine running .
before the oil level went low it was fine then we put new oil in it now it will drive forwards fine but put it into reverse gear and nothing
